Welcome to the website of the PTA committee for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Haldane Central School District in Cold Spring, NY. Here, we provide information and resources for Haldane parents, students and teachers that we believe will help foster a school climate that values diversity, inclusion, and kindness.
Founded in 2019, EDI is comprised of a growing and diverse set of members including Haldane parents, students and faculty. We seek to build bridges, share stories and create uniting experiences in our school and community where all feel welcome, safe, and valued. Last year's highlights included a celebration of Día de los Muertos in the school garden, a Lunar New Year take home packet for elementary and middle schoolers, and a poetry reading by acclaimed poet Aja Monet at the high school. EDI also hosts author events, a monthly bulletin board highlighting remarkable humans, and community outreach projects.
We always welcome new members!

On April 30, 2025, PTA released the following statement:
Dear Haldane Community,
Every Child. One Voice.
PTA's mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
The National PTA mission statement highlights diversity as one of their core values stating: “We acknowledge the potential of everyone without regard, including but not limited to: age, culture, economic status, educational background, ethnicity, gender, geographic location, legal status, marital status, mental ability, national origin, organizational position, parental status, physical ability, political philosophy, race, religion, sexual orientation, and work experience.”
The Haldane PTA Committee affirms this statement and is diligently working with our Board of Education in an effort to reinstate DEI Policy #3430 as soon as possible.
